Fire-Dex Flash Hood Maintenance and Cleaning

Remember to not use flash hoods that have not been thoroughly cleaned and dried. Doing so could jeopardize your safety! Hoods may be hand washed or machined washed however DO NOT dry clean!

Hand Wasing:

1. Fill basin with warm water (40°C) and add mild detergent (10.5pH). DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH as it will diminish the protective qualities of the hood. Protective gloves must be used for both heat and contaminate protection.

2. Add hood and soak until thoroughly wet.

3. Hand wash by rubbing together.

4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

5. DO NOT wring hood. Squeeze hood to remove excess water. Reshape and dry flat in a cool shaded location.

6. Dispose of all wastewater according to local, state and federal standards.

Machine Washing:

1. Fill basin with warm water (40°C) and add mild detergent (10.5pH). DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH as it will diminish the protective qualities of the hood. Protective gloves must be used for both heat and contaminate protection.

2. Add flash hoods (up to 20 per standard washer size).

3. Wash using normal wash cycle with a DOUBLE RINSE.

4. Squeeze hood to remove excess water. Reshape and dry flat in a cool shaded location or machine dry on a "NO HEAT" or "AIR DRY" setting. Be sure the dryer temperature does not exceed (40°C).
