MSA motion SCOUT PASS / Distress Signal Unit (DSU)

Stand-alone personal safety monitoring with automatic and manual distress alarm activation.

The MSA motion SCOUT is a stand-alone Distress Signal Unit (DSU), also known as a Personal Alert Safety System (PASS), designed to provide an additional level of protection for firefighters, emergency responders and personnel working in hazardous or potentially dangerous environments.

Using a sensitive electronic motion sensor, the motion SCOUT continuously monitors the wearer's movement. If bodily movement ceases for a predetermined period, the unit automatically activates a powerful audible alarm to help other personnel locate a potentially incapacitated, injured or trapped responder.

For additional safety, the distress alarm can also be activated manually, allowing the wearer to immediately signal for assistance when required.

Automatic Motion Detection

At the heart of the motion SCOUT is a sensitive electronic motion sensor designed to recognise normal body movements during operational activities.

If the wearer stops moving, the unit automatically initiates its alarm sequence, providing an important safeguard in situations where an injured, trapped or unconscious responder may be unable to call for assistance.

Manual Distress Alarm

The motion SCOUT can also be activated manually, giving the wearer the ability to immediately raise an alarm if they become trapped, injured, disorientated or encounter another emergency.

This combination of automatic motion detection and manual alarm activation provides two methods of alerting other personnel to a responder requiring assistance.

Powerful Audible & Visual Warning

When activated, the motion SCOUT produces a high-output audible alarm of at least 95 dB, helping rescue teams locate the wearer in demanding operational environments.

A highly visible LED provides additional visual indication, assisting personnel in locating the wearer in low-light and reduced-visibility conditions.

Designed for Fire & Rescue Operations

The motion SCOUT features a robust, easy-to-grip housing designed for demanding operational use.

A rugged integrated clip allows the DSU to be securely attached to a belt, harness or equipment strap, keeping the unit with the responder while allowing freedom of movement.

Straightforward controls make the motion SCOUT simple to operate, an important consideration when personnel are wearing gloves or working in stressful emergency situations.

Extended Operating Time

With an operating time of more than 200 hours, the motion SCOUT provides extended service between battery changes.

Once the alarm is activated, the unit can provide more than 10 hours of continuous audible alarm operation, helping maintain the distress signal during prolonged emergency situations.

IP67 Protection

The motion SCOUT is rated IP67, providing protection against dust and temporary water immersion and making it suitable for demanding fire, rescue and industrial environments.

An integrated gasket and rugged construction further support reliable operation in challenging field conditions.

The key-operated version can assist with personnel accountability procedures where tally board systems form part of an organisation's incident management processes.
