Modiwark AC30 Stick & Bag Kit
Extended-reach, non-contact AC voltage detection for emergency response and professional electrical safety.
The Modiwark Fire & Rescue AC30 Stick & Bag Kit combines the Australian-made AC30 High-Voltage Proximity Detector with a telescopic extension stick and protective carry system to provide a practical, ready-to-deploy electrical hazard detection kit for emergency services and trained professionals.
Designed for fire and rescue personnel, linesmen, electricians, tree surgeons and other trained operators, the kit provides a non-contact method of detecting the presence of AC voltage while allowing the AC30 to be extended towards potential electrical hazards from an increased working distance.
With the telescopic stick extending to approximately 4 metres, the kit is particularly suited to emergency response situations involving fallen or damaged powerlines, overhead electrical infrastructure, vehicle incidents, structural emergencies and other situations where potentially energised equipment may present a hazard.
Complete AC Voltage Detection Kit
The AC30 Stick & Bag Kit brings the detector, extension stick and essential accessories together in one portable package, helping emergency responders keep the equipment organised, protected and ready for deployment.
Kit Includes
- Modiwark Fire & Rescue AC30 Non-Contact AC Voltage Detector
- Telescopic extension stick – extends to approximately 4 metres
- Three-pocket PVC carry bag
- Protective gloves
- Cable puller – optional
- Electrical tape – optional
- Side cutters – optional
Extended-Reach Detection
Electrical hazards encountered during emergency incidents may be difficult or unsafe to approach.
The telescopic extension stick allows the AC30 detector to be positioned closer to a suspected electrical source while enabling the operator to remain further away from the potential hazard, subject to applicable operating procedures, electrical approach distances and the manufacturer's instructions.
This capability can be particularly useful when assessing:
- Fallen or damaged powerlines
- Overhead electrical conductors
- Electrical infrastructure following storms or natural disasters
- Vehicle collisions involving electrical assets
- Damaged buildings and structures
- Potentially energised fences, cables or equipment
- Other emergency incidents involving suspected electrical hazards
Designed for Fire & Rescue Operations
Electrical hazards are not always visible at an emergency scene.
Damaged electrical infrastructure, fallen conductors and energised equipment can create serious risks for emergency personnel and members of the public.
The AC30 provides crews with a fast, non-contact method of detecting the presence of AC voltage, helping responders identify potential electrical hazards during their initial scene assessment and throughout an incident.
Compact and simple to operate, the detector provides both visual and audible warnings when AC voltage is detected.
Non-Contact AC Voltage Detection
The AC30 detects AC voltage without requiring direct electrical contact.
With a manufacturer-stated sensing range 20 V AC to 500 kV AC, the detector is suitable for a broad range of professional electrical hazard detection applications.
Two selectable sensitivity settings—Less Sensitive and More Sensitive—allow operators to configure the detector for different operating environments.
LED indication provides a visual representation from weak through to strong signal detection, assisting the operator in assessing the proximity of an energised source.
Automatic Start-Up Self-Test
The AC30 automatically performs a built-in self-test each time the unit is switched on, helping confirm that critical functions are operating correctly before deployment.
A dedicated self-test button on the front of the detector also enables operators to perform additional function checks throughout the working period.
The self-test verifies key functions including:
- Audio indicator – confirms operation of the audible warning
- Visual indicator – confirms operation of the visual warning
- Detection circuitry – confirms operation of the core electronic detection circuit
Regular self-testing throughout the working period is recommended in accordance with operating procedures.
Designed for Field Operations
The AC30 has been developed for practical use in demanding professional environments.
Large 15 mm diameter buttons assist operation while wearing gloves, while the rubber-mounted case provides additional protection against impact and everyday operational handling.
A secure, tool-access battery compartment helps prevent accidental opening while the detector is in service.
At approximately 140 g without batteries, the AC30 adds minimal weight to the complete stick and bag kit.
Australian Made
At the heart of the kit is the Australian-made Modiwark AC30, designed for professional applications where effective electrical hazard identification is critical.
Custom colours and decals are available on request, allowing the detector to be configured for agency identification, equipment management and fleet standardisation.
